Refuse and Recycling in North Versailles Township

Big's Sanitation is under contract with the North Versailles Township to collect the refuse(garbage).

Garbage Collection will take place Monday through Friday. Please be reminded, to place your trash outside the night before your service day. There will be no collection on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Pickup will be delayed one day if the holiday is on a Monday through Friday. If the Holiday falls on the weekend, there is no change in service. Recyclables are collected the second full week of every month for the Township by the Public Works Department (please note: there may be a delay in the winter months due to snow removal priorities). You can print a copy of the schedule here.

North Versailles Township now offers access to a Compost Site located at Crestas Community Park. Click here for a map to the location. The site will be open every 3rd Friday of the month.

There are some businesses and larger residential communities within North Versailles Township who have other contracts with waste management companies that differ on pickup days and communal recycling containers. Check with your Property Management. State law requires all residents and businesses to recycle.
For individual home owners, refuse and recycling containers can be placed at curbside after 6:00 p.m. on the day prior to collection and should be removed by 6:00 p.m. the day of collection.

Refuse Preparations:

Carpet must be cut to 4 ft. lengths and bundled.
Building materials/car parts are NOT accepted with regular trash pick-up
Freon needs to be removed -- proof of removal must be attached (sticker and invoice).
Paint must be dried (lids off).
Cans/Trash bags should not exceed 60 lbs.

In the general community, special recycling containers have been provided to each house, however they remain the property of the Township. The container is to be used only for recycling. Plastic bags or other receptacles are not acceptable and will not be picked up. If lost, stolen, or damaged you can get a replacement container from the Road Department.
